

If you are on the far right and don’t enjoy hearing the truth, then you should probably skip this book (and this blog). He calls it as he sees it, including Trump’s complete and total ineptitude, lack of any business sense (unless you count things like stiffing contractors and his sham for-profit university), plus the misogyny and white supremacy he has emboldened. Throughout the main plot Rushdie drops in major events from the mirroring decline of the last decade, including Trump’s election, in such clear prose that makes you ashamed at how insane the US has become.

This is an ambitious work, a Gatsby-ish and gothic look at a great family’s fall from grace.
